Saks Sells Meat: Department Stores Are the New Grocery Stores

Fashion site Fashionista noticed that Saks Fifth Avenue is selling an Allen Brothers Stuffed Crown Roast (in both pork and lamb) alongside the other fashionable bits and baubles in its Holiday catalog.

A quick poke around the website reveals an entire Gourmet Foods section, ranging from a $3,450 Petrossian caviar basket all the way down to a Saks-branded tin of cheddar cheese straws, sale price $15.

This got me thinking — turns out Neiman Marcus also has a Gourmet section (though their stuffed crown roast is $230 to Saks' $150). Berdorf Goodman has some chocolates in their Home section, and Barneys turns up zilch.
