Time Magazine Names Slashfood One of 25 Best Blogs for 2009
Time magazine has included Slashfood in its roundup of the "25 Best Blogs for 2009," and we diagnose a serious case of WTF. We realize these "Best Blogs" roundups are just pageview-generating linkbait, but really? Slashfood? Based on their blurb, the folks at Time are reading some version of Slashfood we've never seen:
Slashfood is a site for people who are serious about what they put in their bodies, the blogosphere's answer to "smart food" books like Michael Pollan's The Omnivore's Dilemma.
With its perennially subpar writing, lack of a coherent editorial voice, and an apparent stubborn insistence that its content be a solid five to ten days behind the rest of the food blogs, we would actually not characterize Slashfood as one of the top 25 blogs this year. Then again, unlike Time, we don't share a corporate parent (AOL/TimeWarner) with the site. So maybe that had something to do with it.
