What we're reading now...

  • Alan Richman's feature story "American Pie" for the June issue of GQ, where he traveled more than 20,000 miles, visitied 109 pizzerias, and ate 386 pies across the U.S.A. in search of the 25 best pies. No doubt, this is epic pizza journalism, but we really could do without the dickish pageview-generating pagination that breaks the story into thirteen separate pages. There isn't even a single page with the entire list of the 25 best, but Slice was thoughtful enough to do it.
  • National Geographic Magazine's "The Global Food Crisis" (see the unpaginated print version along with a photo slideshow by John Stanmeyer) breaks it down: slowing agricultural productivity combined with population growth, climate change, and an imploding global economy makes for a total downer of an article.
