Paula Deen on The View [video]

paula-deen-the-viewPaula Deen visited The View this week to promote her cookbook for kids, Paula Deen's Cookbook for the Lunch-Box Set (buy at Amazon). For the entire seven minutes, the ladies just dive into a table full of food, stuffing themselves. Barbara Walters isn't having any of it though — putting on her journalist hat, she tries to stick it to Paula Deen:

Let me act like your mother... This is a cookbook for kids. Obesity is the number one problem for kids today. Everything you have here is enormously fattening. You tell kids to have cheesecake for breakfast, you tell them to have chocolate cake and meatloaf for lunch and french fries... Doesn't it bother you that you're adding to it? Not at all?

Deen just brushes it off, saying that kids need to be taught moderation. Also, kids are in such a hurry these days that they should just eat muffins on the go. Watch until the end when Deen takes off her "faux ponytail" and sticks it on Joy Behar's head.

Barbara Walters is a class act.

Barbara Walters is not a class act. She was trying to make Paula look bad for no good reason. Paula was nervous and Babs did nothing to be welcoming to her. If you do not like Paul's food, don't invite her to your show. I used to like Barbara and watched her specials. However, I lost a lot of respect for her after her tell all book that seemed just for money with no regard for those she might hurt.

No good reason K? Paula Deen wrote a cookbook full of fattening recipes and is marketing it to kids. She says they should have control but then is morbidly obese herself--quite literally if you eat like Paula does you'll be obese. You don't have to agree with what someone does to have them on your show. Softball questions are only so entertaining.

How about getting kids off the computer and make them go outside and exercise? How about instead of twittering or texting their friends they get off their lazy butts and go see their friends? How about riding a bike? I ate all of those types of food growing up and never had an ounce of fat on me and still don't at the age of 46 because I was active as a child and still am active as an adult.

Barbara Walters states, "Obesity is the number one problem for kids today."

I disagree. A much greater problem for kids today is the media proclaiming that obesity is the number one problem of kids today. Obesity is the result of all the other greater problems of kids, including the moral breakdown of our society.
